Coombe Abbey is a four star luxury hotel, situated in the countryside near Coventry.  Originally a 12th century Cistercian abbey it has been restored to its former glory and is set in 500 acres of parkland.  All rooms are en-suite with satellite TV, trouser press, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Every room is full of historical artefacts and special touches.

The highlight of your stay will be the Murder Mystery dinner in the Abbeygate Hall. It is around 1900 and the scene of a gruesome murder. Step back in time with the singers and entertainers as the mystery unfolds (please note that this is a light-hearted evening with no complex clues to solve!). A three-course dinner plus coffee and a glass of wine are included. There is a vegetarian alternative (please request at time of booking).

Friday We depart at 12.30pm and travel to Royal Leamington Spa, arriving around 3pm.  The town has beautiful Georgian and Victorian architecture.  The Royal Pump Rooms house the interesting museum and art gallery with gift shop and café (admission free).  Quality shops in the town range from the award winning Royal Priors shopping centre to plenty of individual shops.

We leave at 5pm and travel the short distance to Coombe Abbey.  The Bar opens at 7pm and the Murder Mystery dinner commences at 8pm.  There is a disco until midnight following dinner.

Saturday After a leisurely breakfast we depart at 10.30am and travel to Newark-upon-Trent, arriving around noon.  Attractions include walks by the river, the ruined castle, Newark Museum, Millgate Museum of Folk Life and plenty of pubs, cafes and shops including several antiques specialists. There is also an outdoor market.   We depart at 3pm, and will be back in Leeds around 4.45pm.
